JEAN JACQUES CAFFIERI 1725 Paris - 1792 ibid (successor) 'UN FLEUVE' (RIVER GOD) Bronze, dark brown patina, on round base (h. 3 cm). Overall h. 63, w. 34, d. 46, weight about 26 kg. Inscribed on the front of the plinth 'Par MR. Caffieri'. Full-size sculptural representation of a river god seated on a rock, his leg swung over an amphora from which springs a river. Modeled after the marble sculpture by Caffieri in the Musée du Louvre, Paris. Part. rubbed and bumped, min. loss of patina.
