MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI 1475 Caprese - 1564 Rome (after) SEATED MOSES Bronze, dark brown patina. H. 52, W. 25, D. 30 cm. Finely executed reduction after Michelangelo's famous monumental figure of Moses for the tomb of Pope Julius II in San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome. Depicted seated, with a massive, long, cascading beard and powerfully modeled drapery, holding the Tablets of the Law under his right arm. Areas of rubbing and minor impact marks; loss of patina.
