HANS HUGGLER-WYSS 1877 Brienz - 1947 Interlaken SLEEPING DOBERMANN 1913 Bronze, dark patina, on rectangular plinth. H. 37, W. 15, D. 13 cm, weight approx. 9.98 kg. Marked 'H. Huggler' and dated '1913' on the plinth, foundry mark 'Strassacker Kunstguss Süssen, Kunstguss RAL Gütezeichen'. Finely executed depiction of a sleeping guard dog in a calm posture. The naturalistic modeling and carefully crafted details lend the figure a particularly intimate effect. Hans Huggler-Wyss is one of the best-known Swiss sculptors of the 20th century and was particularly appreciated for his high-quality animal depictions. Partial loss of patina and repaired, rest. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
