ARSÈNE MATTON 1873 Harelbeke - 1953 Brussels SEA LIZARD IN A PEARL BOAT SHELL Bronze, nautilus, on an oval marble base. H. 23, w. 18, d. 14 cm, weight approx. 3.31 kg. Signed 'Matton' on the plinth. Rare, fully sculpted depiction of a lizard-like sea creature in a pearl boat shell, supported in curved wave forms by a mermaid and presumably Poseidon. Min. rubbed and bumped, losses to the patina.
