JOSEF FRANZ PALLENBERG 1882 Cologne - 1946 Düsseldorf LYING LION Bronze, dark patina, on a rock-like plinth and rectangular marble base (h. 4 cm). Overall h. 14, w. 23, d. 13 cm, weight approx. 5.23 kg. Signed 'Jos. Pallenberg' on the side, foundry mark 'Düssedf Bronze Giesserei G.M.B.H.' on the reverse. Designed after the bronze sculpture on the Hagenbeck tomb in Hamburg. Min. rubbed and bumped, minor loss of patina.
