CHARLES OCTAVE LEVY 1820 Paris - 1899 ibid 'LE MINEUR' Bronze, brown patina. H. 42.5, W. 15, D. 14.5 cm, weight approx. 5.45 kg. Marked 'Mineur par Ch. Levy Salon des Beaux-Arts' on the front, signed 'Ch. Levy' on the side, with foundry mark 'Bronze Garanti au Titre L.V. Dépose' and numbered '8866' on the back. Above a naturalistic rock base, a full-length representation of a miner in a proud posture, leaning on a pickaxe. Minor loss of patina. Provenance: Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia.
