CHARLES OCTAVE LEVY 1820 Paris - 1899 Paris 'LE FANEUR' Bronze with brown patina, on a rocky plinth. H. 58, W. 21, D. 21 cm; weight approx. 8.95 kg. Inscribed on the front 'Faneur par CH. Levy Salon des Beaux-Arts' and on the plinth 'Ch. Levy'; marked on the reverse with the foundry stamp 'Bronze Garanti au Titre L.V. Dépose' and numbered '6371'. A fully modeled figure of a young haymaker-bare-chested and wearing a hat-standing in a calm, powerful pose and leaning on his pitchfork. Minor rubbing and loss of patina.
