HENRI MICHEL ANTOINE CHAPU 1833 Seine-et-Marne - 1891 Paris 'LA JEUNESSE' (YOUTH) Régule, dark patina, gilded flower, on integrated base. H. 58.5, W. 18, D. 14 cm, weight approx. 10.35 kg. Marked 'Chapu' on the front. Figurative representation of personified youth, after a design by French sculptor Henri Chapu. The graceful female figure is modeled in a calm, balanced posture, reaching for a flowering branch and embodying lightness and carefreeness. Partially rubbed and restored, loss of patina.
