UNKNOWN SCULPTOR CORPUS CHRISTI Romanesque or later Bronze, dark patina, mounted on a fabric-covered wooden panel (25 x 30 cm). Figure height: 23.5 cm. An expressive figure of Christ of the *Christus triumphans* type, depicting Him as the victor over death, wearing a crown and standing upright. Characteristic features include the four-nail configuration with the feet fastened individually to the *suppedaneum* (footrest), the long *perizoma* (loincloth) featuring parallel folds and ornamental engraving, and a strictly symmetrical, stylized rendering of the body. Stylistically, the casting draws inspiration from significant Romanesque bronze crucifixes and processional crosses of the Meuse and Rhineland regions-specifically works from the Limburg-Liège school of bronze casting. It is likely a high-quality Historicist casting or a later replica based on a Romanesque prototype. Shows minor rubbing and nicks; aged patina with traces of oxidation.
