MAX ESSER 1885 Barth - 1945 Berlin LARGE STANDING BEAVER Bronze, black patina, on a round plinth. H. 55.5, w. 35, d. 28 cm, weight approx. 23 kg. Signed on the reverse of the plinth 'M. Esser' and foundry stamp 'Guss Barth Rinteln'. Max Esser was a German sculptor and became known for his sculptures, which were often characterized by expressionist and monumental influences. His work reflects a multifaceted artistic development, from the early phase in which he experimented with traditional forms to a more modern mode of expression. Esser created works for public spaces and achieved international recognition. Part. rubbed and bumped, traces of oxidation, loss of patina.
