EDOUARD-LOUIS COLLET 1876 Geneva - 1961 Geneva LARGE FEMALE NUDE 'NOCTURNE' c. 1910 Bronze, brown patina, on an oval plinth and marble base (H. 7 cm). H. 100, W. 47, D. 33 cm. Inscribed 'Collet' on the front; signed 'Collet' on the plinth. Large-scale, fully modeled depiction of a female nude as an allegory of Night. The young woman is shown in an elegantly curved pose that creates a sense of weightlessness, with both arms raised above her head. Areas of rubbing and minor impact marks; loss of patina.
