Description
ALBERT ALLMANN 1890 Munich - 1979 ibid THE SHELL BEARER Bronze, dark patina, on a tall rectangular marble base (H. 12.5 cm). Total height 34, W. 21, W 18.5 cm, weight approx. Signed 'Allmann' on the plinth. Expressive depiction of a naked, kneeling female nude holding a flat bowl (tazza) with her arms raised. The figure appears idealized in posture and execution - a typical example of Allmann's classicist work. Albert Allmann studied at the Munich Academy and was particularly active as a sculptor in the first half of the 20th century. Partial loss of patina and rubbed.
