FRENCH SCULPTOR Active 2nd half of the 19th century 'DIANA OF VERSAILLES' Bronze, brown patina, on a rectangular plinth. H. 40, W. 24, D. 18 cm; weight approx. 6.96 kg. Foundry mark 'F. Barbedienne Fondeur' on the back of the plinth. A high-quality depiction of the striding huntress goddess Diana-drawing an arrow from her quiver with her right hand and holding a leaping stag by the antlers with her left-based on the famous antique prototype of the Diana of Versailles. Part. bumped and rubbed, loss of paint.
