TWO WOOD CARVED 'ANIMAL' NETSUKE Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 6.6-7.2 cm. Including a netsuke carved as a cicada on a piece of wood and another ebony netsuke as two rats lying on sacks of rice. With traces of age and use, partially damaged. Provenance: From the important collection of the Chemnitz entrepreneur and manufacturer Fritz Niescher (1889-1974).
