KITAGAWA UTAMARO, BEAUTY WITH MIRROR Japan, circa 1800 Woodblock print, framed under glass. Ca. 26x36.5 cm (52x38 cm with frame). From the series "Eight Views of Famous Teahouses", depicting a teahouse waitress checking her makeup, appearing to wipe off excess red lip color with a cloth, the upper part of her face concealed by a bamboo blind (sudare). With traces of age.
