Description
FIVE ECHIZEN KINAI SCHOOL TSUBA (SWORD GUARDS) Japan, 18th/19th century Iron/bronze. H. 7.2-8.3 cm. The five tsuba are of marugata shape: two decorated with leaves and signed "Echizen-Ju Kinai Saku"; two decorated with dragons and signed "Echizen-Ju Kinai Saku"; and one decorated with Shoki and Oni, signed "Kinai Saku". With traces of age, partially abraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
