Description
A GILT BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF GREEN TARA China (Tibet), 17th/18th century Bronze. H. 6.6 cm. Tara is seated in lalitasana on a lotus pedestal with left hand in varada mudra and right in vitarka mudra. Another smaller figure is connected next to her, which may be the Marici, the attendant of Tara. The statue may originally part of a figure groups based on the fracture at the bottom. With traces of age, partially damaged and abraded, inlays partially lost. Provenance: From a private collection in Tyrol, acquired directly from Sangha from Tibet in the second half of the 20th century.
