EINE POLYCHROME HOLZFIGUR EINES BODHISATTVA

A POLYCHROME WOOD FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA Nepal, probably 18th century Wood/Gemstone. H. ca. 80.3 cm (H. ca. 87.5 cm with stand). This bodhisattva stands in an abhanga posture, with both hands resting by his sides, the right hand in varada mudra. He is dressed in a dhoti, with a sash tied around his hips. His crown, chest, and girdle are adorned with gemstones. With traces of age, partially abraded and slightly damaged, with missing gemstones and possible restoration. Literatur: This figure can be compared to lot 16 from the Dani & Anna Ghigo Collection, which was sold at Christie's live auction 13482 in May 2016.
