A JAPANESE KOMAI STYLE GILT-DAMASCENED BOX BY ABE SHOTEN Japan, Meji-Period Metal. Ca. 10x13.7x4.5 cm. The box is decorated with peacocks, butterflies and flowers. The interior is painted with gold lacquer. The bottom of the box features a signature with the kanji "kei" at the top and "Nagasaki ju Abe saku" at the bottom, which translates to "Made by Abe from Nagasaki." With traces of use, slightly abraded.
