Description
A LARGE SILVER-INLAID BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN China, 19th century Bronze. H. 35.5 cm. The figure is seated in a relaxed posture, she holds a scroll in her left hand while resting her right hand on her knee. She is dressed in a heavy robe incised with cloud scroll patterns. Beside her stands a vase finely incised with bamboo motifs. The reverse is inscribed with the vertical inscription 'Yutang Shisou'. With a four-character mark on the base. With traces of age, partially abraded and damaged. Literature: This figure can be compared to lot 1047, sold at Christie's Live Auction 12900 on 17 March 2017, and lot 101, sold at Christie's Online Auction 19843 on 29 June 2021. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
