EINE GESCHNITZTE KNOCHENPLAKETTE MIT VAJRASATTVA-DARSTELLUNG

A BONE CARVED PLAQUE DEPICTING VAJRASATTVA China (Tibet) Bone. H. 25.6 cm. Made from the flat skullcap of a yak, with a carved bas-relief on the exterior depicting Vajrasattva seated in the padmasana posture on a lotus pedestal. In his right hand he holds a vajra, and in his left a ghanta. With traces of age and use, partially damaged, cracked and abraded. Provenance: From a private collection in Düsseldorf.
