A FAMILLE ROSE 'EIGHT IMMORTALS' SNUFF BOTTLE China, 18th/19th century Porcelain. H. 6.8 cm. The snuff bottle is of square section with a waisted neck and gilt lip, supported on a tapering foot with a concave base. It is finely painted in underglaze blue, gilt, and bright enamels to depict a continuous scene with four of the Eight Immortals amid swirling clouds. The base bears an iron-red character mark "Nian", probably of the Jiaqing period, and the bottle is fitted with a jadeite stopper. With traces of age.
