A BRONZE FIGURE OF KSITIGARBHA China, Ming Dynasty Bronze. H. 23.5 cm. Ksitigarbha is seated in vajrasana on a double lotus pedestal, with his right hand in varadamudra and his left in abhayamudra . He wears a Buddhist crown with flowing ribbons draped over his shoulders, a dhoti, and a wide-sleeved coat that covers both shoulders. His serene face is depicted with downcast eyes beneath arched eyebrows that gracefully merge into the bridge of the nose. With traces of age, partially abraded and damaged. Provenance: From an old private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
