EIN PAAR MIT SILBER UND HARTSTEIN EINGELEGTE 'DRACHEN'-ROLLGEWICHTE AUS HOLZ

A PAIR OF SILVER- AND HARDSTONEINLAID WOOD 'DRAGON' SCROLL WEIGHTS China, Qing-Dynasty Wood/hardstone. L. ca. 40 cm; H. ca. 2.5 cm. The scroll weights are long and rectangular in form, with a dark brown color. Each upper surface is inlaid with hardstone carvings of two dragons playing with a flame, while the sides are bordered with silver wire inlays featuring taotie motifs. With traces of age and use, partially abraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in the Lower Rhine region (Niederrhein).
