A WOOD NETSUKE OF MONKEY AND TORTOISE Japan, 19th century Wood. H. 3.7 cm. The netsuke is carved as a monkey standing on the back of a tortoise, gazing down at it with a gentle expression. Signed 'Goro' on the bottom. With traces of age and use, partially abraded.
