EIN KORO MIT DECKEL AUS BRONZE
Description
A BRONZE KORO AND COVER Japan, Meiji-period Bronze. H. 17.8 cm. The four-legged koro is decorated with two panels on the body, depicting a qilin and a tortoise. Each side of the body features a lion's head. The handle is attached in an arched shape to the body. The lid is adorned with a seated shishi, its head thrown back in a roar. The bottom is signed. With traces of age and use, slightly abraded. Provenance: From an old private collection in the southern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, acquired in 1989 from the auction house Bödiger.
