EIN KOPF DES BUDDHA AUS STUCK

A STUCCO HEAD OF BUDDHA Pakistan, Gandhara. 4th/5th century Stucco. H. ca. 25.5 cm. The Buddha's face is well-proportioned, with a serene expression. The mouth is curved with a deep lip split, complemented by a strong nose. The hair is wave-like, converging at the top of the head to form the ushnisha. With traces of age, partially abraded and damaged. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
