EIN KATANA UND EIN WAKIZASHI

A KATANA AND A WAKIZASHI Japan, 15th-17th century Steel, etc.. L. ca. 69-95 cm. The katana with shinogi-zukuri blade, itame hada, komidare hamon and midare-komi boshi, o-suriage nakago with three mekugi-ana, unsigned, attributed to Bizen Norimitsu (ca. 1460), with NTKS papers. The wakizashi with shinogi-zukuri blade, komidare hamon and itame hada, ubu nakago with one mekugi-ana, signed "Shitahara Ju Hiromitsu", with NTKS papers (ca. 1680). Complete handachi koshirae with same-tsuka and dark brown silk wrapping, menuki in shakudo and gold, black lacquer saya with aogai inlay, fittings of patinated copper and iron sukashi tsuba with branch and leaf design. With traces of age and use; the kozuka of the wakizashi missing. Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
