AN IRANIAN PAINTED POTTERY JAR Iran, probably 2600 BC Earthenware. H. 24.3 cm, D. ca. 26 cm. The buff jar with probable origin in Tepe Giyan is decorated with geometric ornamentation around the broad shoulders. With traces of use and age, partially damaged and restored. For comparison is an almost identical jar in the collection of National Gallery Prague (NM-NpM P 6081). Provenance: From a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia.
