A GREY SCHIST HEAD OF BUDDHA Ancient region of Gandhara, 2nd-3rd century Schist. H. ca. 15 cm. His face has a calm and peaceful expression, with heavy-lidded, almond-shaped eyes gently cast downward in meditation. The lips are slightly concave and gently raised, while the hair is arranged in wavy curls, drawn up into a domed ushnisha. With traces of age, nose, right ear and hair partially damaged. Literatur: This head of buddha can be compared with lot 356 sold at Sotheby's in auction in September 2024.
