A FINE IVORY NETSUKE OF A TANUKI Japan, 19th century Ivory. H. 5.9 cm. The netsuke is carved as a tanuki wrapped within a large lotus with the curved stem in the back functioning as the himotoshi, while another lotus leaf resting on its head like a hat. With traces of age and use, slightly cracked and abraded. CITES marketing certificate is available. Please note that due to the current CITES regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell objects, unrestricted trade is only permitted within the European Community. An export license is required for shipment to third countries. Please inform yourself about the current import regulations for ivory and tortoiseshell in your country.
