AN ARCHAISTIC GREY AND RUSSET JADE 'MYTHICAL BEAST' SEAL China Jade. H. 9.7 cm. The seal of square section surmounted by a recumbent mythical beast, pixiu. The seal face is carved with a two-character inscription. With traces of use and age, partially cracked. Provenance: From an old private collection in the Lower Rhine region (Niederrhein).
