Verso: "In the Year of Our Lord 1941, Lionel Poupaert of Bruges, at the request of Mr. Henrico Maes, and with the consent of the Reverend Mr. Deschepper, Dean, together with the churchwardens of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bruges, executed this most faithful copy of the original painting of the Virgin of Sorrows by the eminent painter Adriaen Ysenbrandt (1530), preserved in the above-mentioned church."
