Description
ITALIAN SCHOOL, AROUND 1600 STUDY OF A SEATED MALE NUDE (SAINT SEBASTIAN) Red chalk on chamois-coloured coarse handmade paper. 53 x 37 cm. Partially slightly stained and foxed, horizontal fold mark in the centre, slight old rest. at the bottom centre of the foot. The composition is closely related to Guido Reni's well-known depictions of Saint Sebastian and reflects the academic conception of the figure in the Roman-Bolognese school around 1600. Provenance: International private collection.
