ROMAN SCHOOL IN THE CIRCLE OF CARLO MARATTA 13 May 1625 Camerano (Ancona) - 15 December 1713 Rome HOLY FAMILY WITH THE CHILD JOHN AND SAINT ANNA Pen in grey, brown and black, partially washed in grey on light handmade paper (oval). Visible dimensions: 26.5 x 18.5 cm, passe-partout dimensions: 39 x 29.5 cm. Minimal staining, minor crease marks. Classically conceived depiction of the Holy Family with calm, idealised figures and softly modelled drapery. The stylistic features - balanced composition, mild emotions and classicising tone - point to the circle of Carlo Maratta and his Roman workshop. Provenance: International private collection.
